  1. Undivided

Lately I’ve really been wrestling my animosity toward fellow Americans. On one hand I understand why tensions are high, but on the other hand it feels pointless to be angry at each other when, if we could strip back the noise, I think we’d agree on most of the basics.

If you work hard, you shouldn’t have to worry about putting food on the table or a roof over your family’s head. If you served our country, you should feel valued, not like an inconvenient discarded prop. If you didn’t do anything wrong, you should be entitled to due process. And it shouldn’t feel impossible to give your kids a better life than you had.

Thats the kind of shared reality that binds a nation together, and when it breaks down, it leaves us all vulnerable. Not just to sociopath billionaires, but to foreign autocrats who don’t want to face the US’s military or soft power. They boost the loudest fringe voices on both sides to make it seem like “the other team” is crazy and dangerous, where most people are actually ‘peaceful not harmless’ types. Liberals don’t want to kill Conservatives anymore than Conservatives want a race war/white ethn0state.
